 人生是不公平的，习惯去接受它吧。 Rule 2. The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself. 这个世界不会在乎你的自尊，这个世界期望你先做出成绩，再去强调自己的感受。 Rule 3. You will NOT make 40 thousand dollars a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone, until you earn both. 你不会一离开学校就有百万年薪，你不会马上就是拥有移动电话的副总裁，两者你都必须靠努力赚来。 Rule 4. If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss. He doesn't have tenure. 如果你觉得你的老师很凶，等你遇到你的老板再说吧 —— 老板是没有工作任期限制的。 Rule 5. Flipping burger is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping they called it opportunity. 在速食店煎个汉堡并不是作贱自己，你的祖父母对煎汉堡有完全不同的定义。 Rule 6. If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them. 如果你一事无成，不是你父母的错，所以不要只会对自己犯的错发牢骚，从错误中去学习。 Rule 7. Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they now are. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parents' generation, try delousing the closet in your own room. 在你出生前，你的父母并不像现在这般无趣，他们变成这样是因为忙着付你的开销，洗你的衣服，听你吹嘘自己有多了不起，所以在你拯救被父母这代人破坏的热带雨林前，先整理一下自己的房间吧。 Rule 8. Your school may have done away with winners and losers but life has not. In some schools they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life. 在学校里可能有赢家和输家，在人生中却还言之过早，学校可能会不断给你机会找到正确的答案，真实人生中却完全不是这么回事。 Rule 9. Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself. Do that on your own time. 人生不是学期制，人生没有寒假，没有哪个雇主有兴趣协助你寻找自我，请用自己的空暇做这件事吧 Rule 10. Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs. 电视上演的并不是真实的人生，真实人生中每个人都要离开咖啡厅去上班。 Rule 11. Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one. 友善地对待讨厌鬼，你可能最后会为其中一个人工作。 |
